Active Transportation Projects

Bike lane on Fillmore

The Phoenix Street Transportation Department works to maintain and improve roadways Citywide, creating a safe and efficient transportation network. Active Transportation projects are roadway modifications to improve accessibity to those traveling on rights-of-way on foot, and by other means that include wheeled or other mobility devices.

What you will find on this page

The department's ongoing pavement maintenance program provides opportunities to change the current traffic lane striping to improve safety for people who drive a motor vehicle, ride a bike, walk and use public transit. There are still other projects that are part of the City's Capital Improvement Program that also include active transportation infrastructure.

Some projects led by the Active Transportation team require public engagement and you will generally find those projects in the first sections below and on the Public Meetings page.

Other projects can be implemented without community engagement because they don't change the number of vehicle travel lanes or remove on-street parking. You'll find those organized by year toward the bottom of this page interspersed with completed projects.
