Phoenix launches a Citywide food drive to assist residents experiencing food insecurity during the holidays.
Happy Valley Road (67th to 35th Avenues)
The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department is implementing key safety, capacity and drainage improvements along a four-mile stretch of Happy Valley Road from 67th Avenue to 35th Avenue.
This section of Happy Valley Road is a major arterial roadway that connects commuters to Interstate 17 and supports local, regional, residential and commercial activities. At present, this stretch of roadway continuously shifts between two and three travel lanes. Curb, gutter, sidewalk, and raised medians are intermittent. Bike lane widths are varied and, in some places, non-existent.
Construction crews, under the direction of the City of Phoenix, will widen portions of Happy Valley Road, install drainage infrastructure to manage runoff from Ludden Mountain, and add safety features to prevent collisions and better protect vulnerable road users.
Users of Happy Valley Road will experience long-term restrictions, lane closures, sidewalk closures and detours through summer 2027. This includes reducing the number of travel lanes to one lane in each direction throughout the project.
