45th Ave from Grand Canal to Camelback Road

About the Project​

​The Phoenix Street Transportation Department is proposing an update to the parking and bike lanes on 45th Avenue from the Grand Canal to Camelback Road. ​

Project Details

The proposed update includes three options for two different segments of this corridor: 

​Segment 1: Grand Canal to Indian School Road

  • Option A: No change
  • Option B: Shortening the 17-foot wide driving lanes to 10 feet, adding a 7-foot bike lane on both sides of the road, while keeping the 7-foot parking lanes on both sides of the road
  • Option C: Shortening the 17-foot wide driving lanes to 10 feet, adding a 3.5-foot buffer to a 7-foot wide bike lane on both sides of the road and allowing parking on only the south side of the road

​Segment 2: Indian School Road to Camelback Road 

  • ​Option A: No change
  • Option B: Shortening the 17-foot wide driving lanes to 11 feet, adding a 6-foot bike lane on each side, while keeping the 8-foot parking lanes on both sides of the road
  • Option C: Shortening the 17-foot wide driving lanes to 12 feet, adding a 4-foot buffer to a 9-feet wide bike lane and removing all parking

 

Presentation and Survey

A pre-recorded presentation (viewable above and on YouTube​) was posted on October 3, 2023. Residents were encouraged to watch the presentation and then participate in a survey that was available in English and Spanish through October 23. The survey was reopened from February 8 through March 31 to gather additional feedback. Thank you to those who participated.
