Phoenix Water Services Sponsors Neighborhood Projects in 2025 Love Your Block Grant Program

Garden for Grants Golden Barrel Cactus

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is proud to announce its participation as a funding partner in the 2025 Love Your Block (LYB) Grant Program, administered by the Neighborhood Services Department. This year, Water Services is sponsoring four grants of up to $5,000 each for neighborhood improvement projects that promote water conservation and sustainability.

The Love Your Block Grant is a city initiative that empowers residents to enhance their neighborhoods through beautification and community-driven projects. This year’s program features a total of eight grants across Phoenix, with special focus on projects that deliver long-term impact and environmental benefits.

"Phoenix Water is committed to building stronger, more sustainable communities," said Troy Hayes, Water Services Director. "By supporting conservation-focused neighborhood projects, we’re not only preserving our water supply – we’re also investing in civic pride and the long-term resilience of our neighborhoods."

To be eligible, applicants must be a registered neighborhood group with the City’s Neighborhood LINK and submit a proposal that includes a project scope, budget, and maintenance plan.

Examples of eligible water conservation-focused projects include the following:

  • Creating a community "leak watch" group to identify and assist with residential water leaks
  • Grass removal in shared neighborhood spaces with xeriscape (desert landscaping) installation
  • Designing and painting a mural with a clear water-conservation message or theme
  • Planting a pollinator garden with native, low-water-use plants
  • Installing rainwater harvesting basins or barrels for irrigation

The application deadline is Monday, May 12, 2025, at 5 p.m. Awardees must be able to complete their project within six months and attend a mandatory workshop on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

This collaboration supports Phoenix Water’s broader mission to encourage efficient water use and promote sustainable desert living, aligning with the city’s long-standing leadership in water management.
