The City of Phoenix is excited to award eight neighborhood groups with grant funds through the 2025 Love Your Block (LYB) Grant Program, an initiative that supports neighborhood-led projects that beautify communities, build civic engagement, and promote environmental sustainability. This year, seven of the eight winning proposals include a water conservation component – a milestone reflecting the community’s growing commitment to sustainability.

In partnership with the Neighborhood Services Department, Public Works, and Phoenix Water Services, the LYB program awarded $40,000 in total funding. Notably, Phoenix Water Services sponsored four of the grants to support projects with a focus on water-smart solutions.

"Water conservation is not just about individual actions – it’s about empowering communities," said Emilie Brown, Water Conservation Policy Manager for Phoenix Water. "We’re excited to see residents embracing projects that support our desert environment and make Phoenix more resilient."

Awarded neighborhood groups will receive up to $5,000 each to complete their projects by early 2026. This year’s winning proposals span the city and include:

  • Community murals with strong water conservation messaging
  • Pollinator gardens featuring native, low-water-use plants
  • Grass removal in shared neighborhood areas with xeriscape replacements
  • Rainwater harvesting installations
  • Creation of a community “leak watch” group to identify and repair local leaks

Now in its 11th year, the Love Your Block program continues to reflect Phoenix’s deep investment in local leadership and neighborhood innovation.
