Since its establishment in 1986, the agency’s Public Art Program has been a national model for involving artists in designing and building a better city. By fostering collaborations among artists, engineers, architects, landscape architects, and other urban designers and thinkers, the program enhances the look, feel, and function of a wide range of public buildings, spaces, and infrastructure. The Public Art Collection also includes over 300 site-specific artwork locations and over 1,200 portable artworks.
The Office of Arts and Culture is accepting applications for a Public Art Collections intern. The successful candidate will work closely with the Arts Collections Manager, who is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and preserving the public art collection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Audit the public art electronic database (CMS) for accuracy and completeness.
- Review, audit, organize, and update both physical and digital files.
- Identify projects needing updated photography and coordinate with photographers to photograph the projects.
- Assist portable works art installations at City Hall and Burton Barr Library.
- Public Art assessment and condition reporting at locations within the City of Phoenix.
- Portable works inventory review.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Knowledge of:
- Arts and culture, including public arts, arts education, and arts database management.
- Principles of electronic file organization.
- Principles of evaluation and assessment.
- Common art materials and terms.
- Principles of customer service and public relations.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate exceptional, seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
- Accurately input data into a cloud-based collections management database;
- Implement effective planning and organizational skills while maintaining a strong focus on detail, accuracy, procedures, and deadlines;
- Use Microsoft Office to produce documents, specifically Excel and Word;Work cooperatively with City employees, outside agencies, and contractors
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to oneself or others.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Be a current or recently graduated undergraduate, graduate, or attending an institution of higher education.
- Be at least 18 years old.
COMPENSATION, CLASSIFICATION AND DURATION
- $20.00 per hour, 20 hours per week for 40 weeks
- The intern will be a self-employed contractor
- Must be able to meet the requirements to register as a City of Phoenix vendor
- Non-consecutive to be scheduled in agreement with the intern
- The period of employment is approximately 9 months

The Youth and Education Office is seeking a part-time Outreach Support Coordinator (Recreation Leader) who is a motivated, outgoing individual with experience in educational programs from Birth to College and Career. This role supports the Experience Corps Tutoring Program, Family Resource Centers, and other initiatives.
While the City of Phoenix does not provide K - 12 education, its support helps students and families succeed academically. This position assists the Youth and Education Office within the City Manager's Office. In partnership with AARP, Experience Corps Phoenix (ECPhx) is a volunteer-based tutoring program that helps students read at grade level by third grade. The program is an ESSA-approved literacy intervention with measurable academic benefits and positive health outcomes for volunteers. This role supports ECPhx and the broader mission of the Youth and Education Office.
Youth and Education Outreach Support Coordinators lead volunteers and serve as site leaders in schools. Responsibilities include managing educational activities, ensuring program coverage, and maintaining participant safety. This position requires travel and full on-site work. Will be able to provide excellent customer service, lead volunteer outreach efforts, oversee tutoring activities, and create and reconcile reports.
Available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend availability.

As an Arts and Culture Groundskeeper, you will help care for and maintain cultural facilities, landscaped grounds, archaeological areas, and historic well sites. This position is responsible for a variety of custodial, maintenance, and landscaping duties, ensuring these unique spaces remain safe, clean, and welcoming for the public. Work may include mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, and general upkeep of landscaped areas, as well as cleaning and maintaining building exteriors, walkways, and outdoor gathering spaces. You will operate landscaping equipment, power tools, and other gas-powered machinery as needed to complete assignments. Groundskeepers in this role work both independently and as part of a team, supporting projects across multiple sites. The work is hands-on, outdoors, and may involve varied tasks depending on the season and the needs of each location.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to learn proper cleaning, maintenance, and gardening methods, as well as the safe use of related materials and equipment, including mowers, string trimmers, gas-powered hand shears, pole saws, and other power tools.
- Ability to work in a team environment and/or autonomously.
- Ability to professionally communicate information to Arts and Culture staff and guests.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and report them in timely matter.
