The Gated Alley website has all the information that you need to start the process of requesting gates. https://www.phoenix.gov/gatedalley

The Gated Alley Program is a resident driven program.

Property owners and/or residents must submit a request form and petition to the city of Phoenix to participate in the program. Requests to the Gated Alley Program must meet eligibility criteria, have petition consent from at least 50% + 1 of property owners (not renters) along the segment, and be approved through city departments. Segments are reviewed and funded on a first come, first served basis. For more information on the program, please visit www.phoenix.gov/gatedalley.

Yes, all residents/property owners adjacent to a gated alley segment retain access to the alley through a combination lock on the gates. Access codes are mailed to all gated alley property owners and current residents along gated alley segments. Emergency services, utilities, and the city also retain access.

If you have an issue with a lock or gate, please email gatedalley@phoenix.gov or call 602-534-0742.

PHX C.A.R.E.S FAQ

Being homeless is not a crime. However, if you see a crime in progress it needs to be reported. If you witness a need that requires immediate response from Phoenix Police or Fire departments, please call 911.

If you suspect illegal activity call Crime Stop at 602-262-6151. If you see a possible encampment and want to get outreach teams to the area, use the online PHX C.A.R.E.S reporting portal at phoenix.gov/myphx311 or contact 602-262-6251, Press 6.

PHX C.A.R.E.S. (Community, Action, Response, Engagement, Services) is a process that coordinates city resources to work with neighborhoods and individuals experiencing homelessness. PHX C.A.R.E.S. sends trained outreach teams, who take the time to build rapport and trust with individuals, to encourage them to accept services and resources that are offered to help end their homelessness. Any encampment reported in a city right-of-way is cleaned by unified city resources. Encampments on private property are the responsibility of the property owner to clear.

To report homeless encampments, use the online PHX C.A.R.E.S portal at phoenix.gov/myphx311 or contact 602-262-6251, Press 6.

We cannot force people to accept help, but we will continue to make contact with individuals and build a rapport and relationship that will hopefully one day lead to them accepting services and case management assistance.

Early intervention is critical in preventing homelessness. Individuals or families should seek assistance as soon as they encounter a challenge meeting any of their basic needs (rent, utilities, food, etc.). City of Phoenix residents may seek assistance at a city of Phoenix Family Service Center phoenix.gov/administration/departments/humanservices/programs-services/crisis-assistance or call 211 for information about community service providers.
