Phoenix Water Launches Electric Meter Reader Vehicles with Sustainability Messaging

Phoenix Water is hitting the streets with a new way to share its commitment to sustainability. The department has deployed its first Chevrolet Equinox electric vehicles in the meter reading fleet, pairing clean energy technology with bold public education messages about water stewardship. Additional vehicles will be introduced in the coming months.
Each of the new electric vehicles features a full-body wrap designed to serve as a moving billboard, carrying one of three key themes:
- “Find and Fix Leaks” – encouraging residents to save water by repairing leaks quickly.
- “Only Rain in the Storm Drain” – reminding the community to keep stormwater systems free of pollutants.
- “Sustainable to the Last Drop” – highlighting Phoenix’s leadership in recycling and reusing wastewater.
To better connect with Phoenix’s diverse community, select vehicles also feature Spanish-language versions of the wraps.
Already on city streets, these vehicles are attracting attention in neighborhoods across Phoenix. As more are deployed this fall, they will continue reinforcing the City’s message of water conservation while showcasing its investment in clean energy, reduced emissions, and modernized fleet operations.
“These vehicles represent the best of what Phoenix is working toward—sustainable operations, smart use of resources, and creative ways to connect with the public,” said Brandy Kelso, Director of Phoenix Water Services. “Every time one of these cars drives by, it’s a reminder that small actions, like fixing a leak, add up to a big impact on our water future.”
The rollout of the electric meter reader vehicles is part of Phoenix Water’s broader strategy to modernize operations, expand conservation outreach, and promote environmental stewardship citywide.
