Phoenix Mayor Gallego Announces Continuation of “Save Water Pledge” as a Permanent Campaign

Wayne Drop Encouraging Save Water Pledge

One year after its successful launch, Mayor Kate Gallego is reinforcing her dedication to water sustainability by extending the "Save Water Pledge" as an ongoing, permanent initiative.

Since launching on May 1, 2024, more than 700 residents have joined the campaign by committing to simple, meaningful water-saving actions. The continuation of the Pledge underscores the City's commitment to sustainability and water resiliency in the face of ongoing drought and climate challenges.

"We launched the Save Water Pledge to inspire our residents to take everyday action toward securing Phoenix’s water future," said Mayor Gallego. "I’m proud to see our community answer the call – and I’m even more proud to make this a permanent part of how we work together to be the most sustainable desert city in the world."

The Pledge asks residents to:

  • Find and fix leaks each season
  • Water with the weather—adjusting outdoor watering to fit the seasons
  • Install water-efficient appliances and fixtures with the EPA WaterSense label
  • Start every day with water in mind

Phoenix Water Services is also encouraging residents to share the Pledge with neighbors, friends, and family to build a culture of conservation citywide. Throughout May, residents can expect to see social media content, videos, and newsletter updates to celebrate the Pledge’s first anniversary and help spread awareness of its ongoing availability.
