Join the City of Phoenix in Recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month

The City of Phoenix is proud to recognize May 2025 as Mental Health Awareness Month. This is the first year the City is commemorating "Mental Health Matters," an awareness campaign to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and provide resources to support mental health and wellness.

All month, Phoenix City Hall will be illuminated green in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental and physical health are equally important. The City partners with several agencies to provide mental health resources, and to change the conversation around mental health.

On Thursday, May 8, the Human Services Department will host the first annual Mental Health Awareness Community Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Travis L. Williams Family Services Center located at 4732 S. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85040. The event is free and open to the public.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health 59.3 million adults in the United States (23.1%) experienced a mental illness in 2022.

Mental health can include short-term and long-term conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar disorder and many other conditions. These can impact not only individuals but their families, friends and work and the community. In extreme cases, mental illness can even lead to substance abuse, suicide or homelessness.

Below are some key resources for those in need or facing crisis.
