Rescued Hiker Thanks Phoenix Fire Department

On June 5th, 2025 a hiker suffered a fall and needed to be air lifted off of Camelback Mountain. During his rescue and recovery, he was overwhelmed with gratitude for the care and support he received from the Phoenix Fire Department.

After returning home, the hiker wrote a letter to members of Fire Station 12 and the Technical Rescue Team who were involved in his rescue. He asked that his letter be shared with those members so they would know how appreciative he was.

We shared the letter with the team. The hiker made a full recovery and vowed to hike with a partner and be more cautious in the future.

The Phoenix Fire Department reminds everyone to hike safely, stay hydrated, go prepared and know your limits.
