On Thursday, August 8th, the Phoenix Fire Department posthumously promoted deceased Phoenix Firefighter Adam Cauthron to Captain. The ceremony was held at the Phoenix Fire Administration building.
Adam passed away in September of 2024 after 18 years on the job as a Phoenix Fire Fighter. He was on the “Captain’s List” before his untimely death and received the honor posthumously from Phoenix Fire Chief, Mike Duran.
Captain Cauthron’s legacy as a fire fighter was one of leadership, hard work, dedication and professionalism. He held multiple specialized certifications including technical rescues and hazardous materials. Additionally, Captain Cauthron was a member of FEMA’s Arizona Task Force 1 special operations unit.
His posthumous promotion to Captain included the following Promotion Order:
“Effective this day, it is hereby ordered that Firefighter Adam Cauthron is posthumously promoted to the rank of Fire Captain, with all the rights, responsibilities and honors thereof. Let this rank stand as a testament to his dedication and sacrifice to the citizens of Phoenix and to his brothers and sisters in the fire service.”
Captain Adam Cauthron is survived by his wife and two children.
