South Mountain Community Library, 7050 S. 24th St., Phoenix, AZMembers of the public are invited to learn about an upcoming flood mitigation project in their area. The project aims to divert floodwater and mountain drainage away from private property and into appropriate drainage infrastructure to guard against property damage and losses due to flooding. This program is part of the City of Phoenix's broader initiative to improve public safety and infrastructure through flood management efforts. Through infrastructure investments, the city aims to protect neighborhoods and enhance quality of life for residents. The Hohokam Drainage Program 1 is a package of four seperate flood mitigation projects in the South Mountain Area. Key improvements include:
- Installation of new storm drains
- Construction of detention basin at Highline Canal Park.
Members of the project team and professional engineers will be on hand to discuss the project and future considerations.
