​​To be a water​ steward, you need to learn more about water through reading, researching, and talking to your parents, teachers, and other trusted adults about water.

Tips

Tip 1: Beat the heat at your local library!

From June 1 through August 1, 2025, kids, teens, and adults can sign up for the Maricopa County Reads summer program! Reading for 20 minutes a day helps build a strong lifelong reading habits and is fundamental for developing literacy skills. Join today!

Tip 2: Start asking questions!

Put on your thinking cap and try finding the answer to these questions:

  • Why is water important?
  • How do we use water?
  • What is the water cycle, and how does it work?
  • Where does our water come from?
  • How do we protect our water?
  • How do we save water for the future? ​

Tip 3: Read, research, and talk to trusted adults about water.

You can find books about water for free at your local Phoenix library branch. ​You can even sign up for the Phoenix Library's Summer Reading Program here.
