Due to forecasted storms, free sand for sandbags is now available at eight City of Phoenix parks.
Certified Autism Center Program

The City of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department, in alignment with the Mayor’s vision to become the most accessible city in the nation, has partnered with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to become an organizational Certified Autism Center.
An annual partnership with IBCCES will provide online, self-paced, modular training designed to be paused, saved, and completed during the busy workday.
Training materials are updated frequently, and employees are highly encouraged to complete the training every two years to maintain certification requirements.

Who is IBCCES?
Delivering the global standard for training and certification in the fields of autism, neurodiversity, and accessibility – IBCCES provides a series of certification programs that empower professionals to be leaders in their field and improve the outcomes for the individuals they serve. For over two decades, IBCCES has been a global leader, setting the industry standard in autism and cognitive differences training.
The CAC is a designation that provides assurance to the public that the City of Phoenix, as an organization, has taken steps to create a safe and comfortable environment for individuals with autism or other sensory needs. The intent is to improve the resident and visitor experience, empower staff to engage confidently with sensory needs guests, and minimize potential triggers while promoting positive experiences.
How many courses can I take?
Due to the volume of personnel within the City of Phoenix, as well as IBCCES system restrictions, staff are limited to one course. An additional course may be required if job duties change.
Please contact Lisa Cherry in EOD for assitance with course registration.
How do I know which training is right for me?
Your profile will have to be moved to the correct course by IBCCES. The Awareness Course is the first 30 minutes of all the other courses so no time has been wasted. Let's get you into the right course for your job duties.

Due to limited availability, request enrollment by emailing Lisa Cherry with EOD if you can say YES to either question.
- Staff who may be working directly with autistic and sensory need individuals for an extended period (+3 hours), like mental health crisis response team or adaptive recreation coordinators.
- Staff who are in supervisory roles of employees who work directly with individuals who are autistic or have sensory needs.
How do I register?
- Registration requires name, address, and phone number in the “Application” tab.
- You may use your personal OR your department’s primary address and work number. You must use the same information to log back into the system.
- Once registration is complete, a green check mark will appear next to “Identity”.

The registration process in the IBCCES system, may mention that you are responsible for payment. This is their boiler plate language and does not apply to City employees. The City of Phoenix as an organization has contracted with IBCCES and will cover the cost per the agreement. No fees will ever be collected by IBCCES directly from an employee.
If you receive a notification that you need to make a payment, please send to Lisa Cherry.
How do I launch the training platform?
To launch without error, go to the course page, not the Action Item, Home or Transcript pages.

Each course has its own unique password. Be sure to save it somewhere safe—you’ll need it to log back into your profile, resume your training, and access your completion records. IBCCES login link

How do I complete the course, and receive Triple Cultural Competency Points?
- Once registered, course progress is tracked under the “Training Status” tab of your profile.
- After completing the exam, IBCCES will email you the certificate of completion. If you need to get a copy at a later date, you may log into your profile and find the certifcate under the "Assessments" tab.

- From your Transcript Page in PHXYou, select "Mark as Complete".
- Provide your Supervisor with a copy of your certificate.
- Your transcript should now show "Pending Completion" which must be finalized by your Supervisor, not you.
Supervisors must verify that the employee has submitted a Certificate of Completion from IBCCES by email. Once confirmed Supervisors must log into PHXYou to finalize each employee's request. Notifications will appear on the homepage under “Your Inbox”. This manual step is necessary because we can’t automatically verify completion through the external provider. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
What else in included?
IBCCES will perform an assessment of six facilities and provide a comprehesive report with sensory guides and other recommendations for each facility.

- Framed Certificate
- Press Release for distibution
- Digital Certification Badge for display on our website
