Outstanding Phoenix Youth Leader of the Year
The Outstanding Phoenix Youth Leader of the Year program celebrates young people making a positive impact in our community. It recognizes exceptional achievements, highlights the contributions of youth, and encourages community awareness of their leadership.
Applications Open: Monday, January 5, 2026.
How It Works:
- Application: Students submit a personal statement responding to the provided prompts.
- Evaluation: Applications are scored using a rubric to identify top candidates.
- Interview: Selected students participate in a panel interview to share their goals and accomplishments.
Selection & Awards:
- Council District Winners: 16 high school students (grades 9–12) are selected, each receiving a cash award.
- Overall Winners: Two citywide winners are chosen from the district winners and receive an additional cash award.
- Recognition: All winners are honored at a special event and featured in city publicity materials.
Eligibility:
- Must be a high school student (grades 9–12) in Phoenix or live within city limits.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or provide proof of lawful presence.
- Finalists must be available for an in-person interview.
