Hohokam Drainage Program

The Hohokam Drainage Program 1 is designed to mitigate flooding in residential areas along the north side of South Mountain in the central southeast portion of the City of Phoenix.

This is the first in a series of projects. It specifically focuses on constructing new stormwater infrastructure along South Mountain Avenue between 14th Street and 17th Way to improve public safety and protect homes and streets from stormwater damage.

Program Details

Program Goals

This program is a part of the City of Phoenix’s broader initiative to improve public safety and infrastructure through flood management efforts. Through infrastructure investments the city aims to protect neighborhoods and enhance quality of life for residents.

Key Improvements

  • Installation of new storm drains along South Mountain Avenue between 14th Street and 17th Way.
  • Construction of a detention basin at Highline Canal Park to manage stormwater runoff.

*NEW* There will be a public open house at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 at the South Mountain Community Library to introduce this project and answer questions from community members.
